Over the last decade, boat builders and dealers have increasingly rallied around the needs and needs of buyers buyers. As a result women are much better represented in the marine industry than previously, with female involvement up across almost all areas of angling. In fact, spurred by the pandemic, 75% more girls are actively shopping for boats compared to last year -- that offers marine retailers a better chance to connect with girls shoppers than ever before.

A frenzy of boat searches have contributed to a unprecedented amount of sales by many new and aspiring sailing families and couples that have gone all-hands-on-deck to quickly eye and buy the perfect kind of boat that assesses all of their boxes.

Historically, women have made up the largest market of boaters and moreover women well-acquainted with drifting not wanting to"miss the boat" within an upgraded version, or the opportunity to break free from the house with the kids, more women new to boating will also be seeking ships as a new, lively adventure for themselves with their significant other or their family. 1 sign that female interest will not quickly fade is this year's consistent increase in outreach produced by girls to vendors for more information about ships available -- and the rise in communicating has lasted long after the peak of this boating season.

With more women browsing online inventory and increasing their role in the early boat selection phase, which is normally an earlier phase than when women have previously entered the vessel buying journey, it is not surprising that there has been a shift in demand. Due to all of the fluctuating restrictions on parties and traveling, and much more girls leading household social calendars compared to guys, family-friendly, activity-based boats with ample seats, versatility for entertaining and watersports, and general ease of use, have lately been explored that the most.

Obviously with the increase in women boat shoppers throughout the market, there is also a growing amount of female captains and ship handling classes led by women, which can be a huge boost for many women taking the helm. Outside of training and instruction, women boaters will also be encouraging other women to adopt the lifestyle. We caught up with writer and long-distance cruiser Lisa Targal Favors who wrote a book about this subject. To influence ladies unsure about cruising and exemplify the many joys of a life onboard, her book Women Onboard Cruising reveals the stories of 25 women and their love of life afloat.

Lisa and her husband Jim (who run the site TrailerTrawlerLife) traveling around the country in their Ranger Tugs R-29 trailerable"pocket yacht" that was a buy decision they made collectively through several hours of discussion. In her book, Lisa worries the way both husband and wife should be familiar with any boat purchase choice, with each of them involved from the very beginning of the selling process all the way to the end.

Considering all the newest boaters of all ages and backgrounds that purchased a"COVID boat", boaters can expect more diverse and inclusive marketing and communication to come, not to mention, new training programs and support offerings. Since the difference between female and male involvement in the boat-buying travel proceeds to narrow with more girls leading the charge, angling will only continue to rise as an even greater, more cherished heritage and pastime.
