The Best Way To Maintain Your PWC

A personal watercraft, or PWC, is a fun and fast vehicle that allows for marine recreation. You must make sure your personal watercraft is maintained in order to keep it that way. Maintaining your personal watercraft will make it less likely that it breaks down in the middle of the water and ruin your ride. Here are some tips.

Get in Your Engine

Although you may be tempted to rush your PWC and go as fast as you can, it's not a good idea. You'll have a PWC that runs smoothly for many years if you take the time to properly break in the engine. Begin by riding at quarter speed for half an hour, then increase to full speed for the same time. Finally, you can move up to three-quarters speed for half an hour. You should then be able to ride at full speed.

Flush Your PWC

It's a good idea after you have ridden your personal watercraft to flush the engine. This is especially important if you are riding in saltwater or sandy environments, as corrosion can occur. Connect your watercraft to a source of freshwater, such as a gardenhose, and turn it on. To flush everything out, engage the throttle while water is running through the engine.

Clean & Wax

Regular rinses and semi-regular washes can help to prevent corrosion and buildup. Your PWC can be protected from sun and water damage by applying a good layer of wax to the surface after it is dry.
