Scarab Jet 285 ID 2022

Scarab Jet 285 ID 2022

Overview

Scarab Jet 285 ID, a luxury wide-beam runabout, has all the benefits of jet propulsion. It features an enclosed head, large sun pads and transom platforms, as well as a wide range of options.

Interior and Accessories

All switches and instruments are replaced by a new standard helm that has twin touchscreens. Scarab also offers an app that allows you to sync your smartphone with the touchscreens. Scarab Jet 285 ID now comes with two wireless charging pads for phones and a foldout snack table. To make service easier, the 12-gallon freshwater tank has been moved and so has the waste tank.

There are 60 color options and graphics available, including one that includes soft Impact mat ($975) on hullsides. This durable material adds an interesting graphic texture to the hull and protects it from dock rash. The Wake Package ($14.127) includes a tower with hardtop and a 1,150-pound water ballast system. It also includes board racks, digital speed control, and board racks. Premium JL Audio ($3,463) includes a subwoofer and amplified transom speaker. RBG LED lighting is also included within the speakers. The optional windlass and polished anchor were available on our test boat ($2,403).

To access a head compartment, lift the port console's front to find a standard portable flushing head or an optional one ($1,555). The starboard console can be opened to reveal a pair of 25-quart coolers. The sunpad measures 4 feet 10 inches square with a pivoting backrest that can be used for either fore- or fore-facing seating. You can also create a lounge area in the cockpit by pivoting the backrest at your port console. The 35-inch deep swim platform includes two draining storage compartments. Access to the engine and batteries is easy with the entire aft section of the seat lifts.

Engines

One lever controls twin Rotax marine-jet drive digital throttles. A pair of Rotax 230hp Rotax jet engines provides the base power. The Scarab reached 52 mph quickly with the optional 300s ($3,467, not catalyst-equipped and therefore not available in California or CE markets). The Scarab Jet 285 ID, also known as the Gulfstream aircraft, is the Gulfstream jet boat.

High Points

  • The large aft platform with sunpad/seat and an expansive aft platform create a relaxing spot to hang out at the beach or cove.
  • Jet power can reduce maintenance costs and eliminate prop anxiety
  • Design is a perfect combination of modern and luxury.

Low Points

  • At cruising speed, the sound level reaches 90 dB(A), and then gets louder.
  • Propelllers are more efficient than jet drives.
  • The premium engine option does not come with a catalyst.

The most difficult competitor

  • The Yamaha 275SE is 27 feet long and costs $125,699 at the base price. It has a 9-foot beam. It is powered by two supercharged 250 hp Yamaha SVHO Jet drives. A single 12-inch Connext touchscreen screen, seven-speaker Wet Sounds stereo system, and a port console head area with integrated Bimini top are some of the features.
