2014 Scarab 195 HO Review
Watersports enthusiasts, start your motors. Mated to a high-efficiency jet drive, this powerplant will firmly plant you in your seat. Trust us, we have run one of these before. And that zippy supercharged and intercooled performance is only part of the story.
There is lots of space for doing all sorts of fun stuff on the Scarab 195 HO. Up forwards is a U-shaped sofa which may also supply forward-facing chaise lounge seating for two, thanks to the integral backrests set prior to the double consoles. Aft from the cockpit is another Adirondack chairs area that's highly transformable in character. The backrests in the transom can be flipped forward or aft, which generates aft-facing chairs in the stern, or completes the above seating for four. Twin swiveling captain's chairs round out the chairs, every pair behind the double consoles with the helm to starboard.
You will find tons of watersports features aboard, including an expansive swim platform, a tow sports arch using integral bimini top and tow pylon, a swim ladder, in-deck wet gear stowage, and customizable water ballast controls for creating amazing wakes to surf on. The tow sports arch can be reduced to clear low bridges and other over-the- water obstacles easily.
Getting back to speed and performance, the single 250-horsepower Rotax engine and coupled jet drive will find the Scarab 195 HO to a top speed of about 42 mph, even though it's most effective cruising at about 20 mph. The Scarab rides extremely well in many conditions, and, despite its own horizontal bow profile, can slice through even a moderate chop without embarrassing banging. That is mainly as a result of the 20-degree transom dead rise and altered V at the bow. Anyone who's run a jet boat knows that they are highly maneuverable at rate; the Scarab 195 HO is not any different, being in a position to corner manner beyond most people' comfort level.
A great deal of speed, fantastic handling, and a boatload of watersports pleasure --what's not to enjoy? A fantastic boat in a little wrapper, the Scarab 195 HO is a superb choice for individuals looking into watersports but who don't have a ton of loot to blow on a high-priced tow boat.
